Does Poe train on what you type?

No.

Can you turn Poe's training off?

Prefer the official model bots (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini), which carry a 'full shield' and are not used for training. Check the shield indicator on any third-party bot before sharing anything sensitive.

What happens to your data when you use Poe?

Because Poe is an aggregator, your messages pass through two sets of hands: Quora (which runs Poe) and the AI provider behind whichever bot you are using. Poe uses a 'privacy shield' system — most official model bots are 'full shield,' meaning your chats are not used for training, while some third-party bots are 'half shield' and may be. Quora says it does not currently train its own models on your Poe chats. Your conversations are private to you unless you choose to share them.

Kevin's take

Poe is handy — many chatbots, one login — but remember your words go through two doors: Quora's, and the actual model maker's. Most of the big official bots are set not to train on you; some community-made ones aren't. Look for the 'shield' label, stick to the official bots for anything sensitive, and you'll be fine.
