Is DALL-E safe to use?
OpenAI's earlier image generator, now retired. ChatGPT's image creation uses OpenAI's newer image models, and OpenAI removed the DALL-E models from its API on May 12, 2026. If you make images in ChatGPT today, ChatGPT's privacy settings are the ones that apply.

Can you turn DALL-E's training off?
Same as ChatGPT: Settings → Data Controls → turn off "Improve the model for everyone." This stops future image prompts/chats from being used for training but does not delete prior chats or disable chat history. API, Business, Enterprise, and Education usage is excluded from training by default.
Is what you put into DALL-E private?
Image creation in ChatGPT follows OpenAI consumer data controls: prompts, uploaded/generated images, responses, device information, and usage patterns may be collected. Consumer image prompts may be used to improve models unless model improvement is off; Temporary Chats are not used for training. API, Business, Enterprise, and Education usage is excluded from training by default.
So, is DALL-E safe to use?
