Does DALL-E train on what you type?
Yes, unless you switch it off — and you can.
Can you turn DALL-E's training off?
Same as ChatGPT: Settings → Data Controls → turn off "Improve the model for everyone." This stops future image prompts/chats from being used for training but does not delete prior chats or disable chat history. API, Business, Enterprise, and Education usage is excluded from training by default.
What happens to your data when you use DALL-E?
DALL-E/image generation in ChatGPT follows OpenAI consumer data controls: prompts, uploaded/generated images, responses, device information, and usage patterns may be collected. Consumer image prompts may be used to improve models unless model improvement is off; Temporary Chats are not used for training. API, Business, Enterprise, and Education usage is excluded from training by default.
The Adventurer's take
“I once asked it to draw a cat reading a newspaper. It obliged. The privacy settings are the same as ChatGPT — check the toggle.”
