AI Slop
Definition
Low-quality, mass-produced content churned out by AI and scattered across the internet: thin articles, generic images, hollow product reviews, all made fast and cheap. The word is dismissive on purpose. It names the flood of forgettable material that arrives when generating content costs almost nothing. Not everything made with AI is slop. But a great deal of slop is now made with AI.
Why It Matters
It's changing what you can trust online. Recognising slop, and the impulse to produce it, is part of using these tools without adding to the pile.
What does that look like in practice?
A search turns up ten near-identical 'best blender' articles, all clearly churned out by AI. That's slop.
What people actually mean when they say this
When someone groans 'it's all AI slop now,' they mean the web is filling with cheap, generic AI content that's barely worth reading.
